Clay Tempered Full Tang Shinken (真剣) | Sakura Wave Katana: TangGu (湯谷) Maru Blade (丸造) + TangGu (湯谷) Yoran Koshirae (夜浪拵)
The katana blade is forged in Maru-zukuri (丸造) style from proprietary high-carbon steel, a monosteel construction for consistent strength and edge retention. The blade has no visible hada (鍛肌なし). A Midare hamon with Gunome elements(互の目交じり乱刃)is created through clay tempering (覆土焼入れ). The saya (鞘) is finished in raden lacquer (螺鈿塗), a black base inlaid with luminous shell fragments that shimmer like starlight. Koiguchi, kurigata, and kojiri are made of polished buffalo horn. A tightly woven black cotton sageo (下緒) completes the scabbard. The tsuka (柄) is wrapped in black cotton ito over natural white samegawa (鮫皮), reinforced with hishigami (菱紙). Menuki (目貫) are crafted from blackened white copper in a sword-and-dragon motif. Fuchi and kashira (縁頭) are brass with blackened patina, hand-carved in katakiribori (片切彫) style with cherry blossom and wave motifs. The tsuba (鍔) is a round brass guard with blackened patina, also hand-carved in katakiribori style with cherry blossoms and waves.
