Shinken (真剣) | Crimson Vajra Katana: TangGu (湯谷Maru Blade (丸造) + TangGu (湯谷) Kongō-beni Koshirae (金剛紅拵)

This katana combines functional strength with a refined, traditional aesthetic. The saya is finished in glossy red lacquer with a subtle speckled shimmer effect. The koiguchi, kurigata, and kojiri are reinforced with water buffalo horn. A black cotton sageo is tied in a standard style. The tsuka is wrapped in high-quality white cotton ito with hishigami (paper triangles) over natural white samegawa (ray skin), ensuring a tight and symmetrical grip. The menuki are crafted from white copper, depicting a dragon coiled around a sword, finished in blackened and polished contrast. The fuchi and kashira are decorated with raised Vajra (金剛杵) motifs in blackened copper. The tsuba is a mokko-style guard (木瓜鍔) of blackened iron, featuring a classic four-lobed silhouette with an openwork axe motif — a practical and symbolic design rooted in tradition.

The tsuba has visible traces of oxidation, therefore it is offered at a special discounted price of AUD $400.
